Is my blood pressure high

that could have been the reason you for your slightly elevated blood pressure. You know there is a diagnosis called white collar syndrome, where a patient has hypertension in the presence of a medical professional. I suggest that you take your blood pressure at home every morning when you get up, and keep a log of it. If the readings are all normal then you have a white collar syndrome,......
I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure was 131/82. I know this isn't really that high, but I heard that anything over 120 is "prehypertension." I'm 22, thin, and fairly athletic. My family doesn't really have a history of high blood pressure. Could it just be that high from nerves? I was pretty anxious about the appointment just because I don't like going to the doctor, even though it wasn't about anything serious. I also take antihistamines for allergies and am not sure if that could affect it. Is my blood pressure something I should be worried about?

If you said that you were anxious going to the doctors, that could have been the reason you for your slightly elevated blood pressure. You know there is a diagnosis called white collar syndrome, where a patient has hypertension in the presence of a medical professional. I suggest that you take your blood pressure at home every morning when you get up, and keep a log of it. If the readings are all normal then you have a white collar syndrome, if not then you have to go back to your doctor and maybe do some testing. You are too young to have hypertension, so my safest bet is you have white collar syndrome. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Blood pressure is always fluctuating depending on activity, temperature, diet, emotional state, posture, physical state, and medication use. So you have to take blood pressure reading for more than two occasions. Optimum blood pressure is < 120/80 mmHg.
* Eat healthy foods. Try the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet, which emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy foods. Eat less saturated fat and total fat.
* Maintain a healthy weight. If you're overweight, losing even 5 pounds (2.3 kilograms) can lower your blood pressure.

Answer:
I take blood pressures every day, you're fine, if they took it right after you walked into the room that's why, to get an accurate reading you need to be sitting for about a minute or more. There is nothing to be worried about, like you said you're young you're athletic, and your family doesn't have any history, your doctor WOULD have said something if there was a problem trust me.

Answer:

Answer:
yup thats considered hypertension especially for a 22yr old. if your diet involves a lot of meat, meat raises cholesterol making you have higher blood pressure due to how hard your heart has to work in order to push blood through your blood vessels.... another thing that might (im not quite too sure) is if you have a lot of sodium in your diet and it'd be retaining more water?

Answer:
ask your Dr
